2002 DALMAC report
2001 DALMAC report
Well, it's been another 12 months of fun filled cycling and now it's time for The Dick Allen Lansing to Mackinaw Bicycle Tour. The objectives of DALMAC are to develop an awareness of bicycling and its needs among the citizens of Michigan, to promote bicycling as a healthy means of transportation and recreation, and to encourage wider participation in bicycle use. How could you not like those goals?!?! With 4 and 5 routes of varying lengths all routes will begin at the MSU Pavilion in East Lansing and follow country roads whenever possible to attempt to provide the safest, most scenic routes between campgrounds.
As in the past, we will be doing the Quad Century route which gives us four days of blissful joy on the bike with each day mileage around 100 miles. If you have been reading our reports this summer you can imagine that we will be going using our tandem this year to traverse our way through the small towns of Michigan on our way north to Mackinaw City. Instead of a single rider drafting behind the wolf pack of tandems, Robyn and I will be right in the mix at the front of the line. No more "magic carpet rides" at high tempo speeds. Guess we will have to work for this one ;).
Robyn and I are hoping to post our reports every night, so check back every night and see how things are going. We also have a new option to add your own comments that we can see when we post the files.
